A Weekend of Hope: Investing in People, Preserving Our History, Building Our Future

Some weekends remind you exactly why community matters.

Last weekend was one of those moments.

On Saturday, we hosted our 15th Annual Hope BBQ alongside the MAE Organization, RI Dream Center, Praise Tabernacle Church, Leadership Rhode Island, Navigant Bank, and so many incredible community partners. Together, we welcomed more than 250 neighbors experiencing hardship, providing free meals, clothing, haircuts, and, most importantly, dignity and hope.

Then on Monday, more than 100 golfers came together for our inaugural Centennial Celebration Cranston Cares Golf Tournament, celebrating the launch of the Historic Park Theatre Preservation Foundation.

What began as a vision became a movement.

Because of the incredible generosity of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, donors, and community partners, we raised approximately $20,000 to support the continued restoration and preservation of the Historic Park Theatre…one of Cranston’s most treasured landmarks. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to protecting this historic gathering place for generations to come.

None of this happens without people who believe in something bigger than themselves.

To our presenting sponsors, Durfee’s Hardware and Keen Eye Painting, thank you for believing in this mission from the very beginning. To every volunteer who arrived before sunrise, every business that donated, every golfer who played, and every supporter who cheered us on—thank you. Your generosity is writing the next chapter of the Park Theatre’s remarkable story.

The Historic Park Theatre has welcomed generations of families through its doors. Now, together, we have the opportunity to ensure it remains a place where future generations can experience live music, theatre, comedy, education, and community for the next 100 years.

This tournament was never just about golf. It was about preserving our history, strengthening our community, and proving that when neighbors come together with purpose, incredible things happen.

As we look ahead, this is only the beginning.

The Historic Park Theatre Preservation Foundation will continue working to restore and enhance this iconic landmark while creating new opportunities for arts, culture, education, and community engagement throughout Cranston.

Our vision is bigger than one building. It’s about creating spaces that inspire creativity, bring people together, strengthen local businesses, and remind us that investing in our community is always worth it.

To everyone who stood beside us this weekend whether you served a meal, donated a raffle prize, sponsored a golfer, volunteered your time, or simply believed in our mission thank you sincerely for being a part of the mission.

May God bless each and every one of you.

Together, we are feeding hope, preserving history, and building a brighter future for Cranston.

And we truly believe…

The best is yet to come.
